When should you start to “Parallel Compress” anything when you are mixing? After saturation, compression? Or do you do it as a group or as a synth depending on drums and leads after you are done processing your sounds? When is the right time to parallel compress during your mixing?
I do my parallel compression after I have channel stripped all of the channels that will be going into the parallel buss. So each element of the kick for example and then send to the parallel buss verb and parallel buss. I set up the verb and get that right before then applying the inserts on the actual parallel buss. That way, when you are blending the buss back in with the actual channels, it is all processed and how it will be in the end. Of course, you may as a result of the parallel buss compression want to tweak an individual channel.
