So I ran into some issue last Summer - August 2017 - where I could not open a Cubase Project. After working with Steinberg USA directly I realized that it was plugin related.
So I believe this is how it happened - I also believe this is a PC and Mac issue:
I upgraded Slate library… after I upgraded when opening a Cubase Project it failed to open when it got to the track which used an enabled Slate “Virtual Mix Rack” in the mixing window.
I was able to open the project by moving the “Slate Digital” folder from my PC installation path:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\
After I moved the folder to a new back-up folder location the Cubase Project opened with no problem.
The issue is memory related - so I feel strongly that if I clear my temp folders and do some cleanup on my C drive that this issue will go away - I also attached a screenshot to show which error I get on opening Cubase - just so you guys can see for yourself.
I had this issue now 3 times since August - and each time it’s related to Slate Plugins… I am using only the VST3 plugins… I believe that the cause is only when using the Virtual Mix rack, but I’m not sure.
